12:04 AM is the eighth episode of the TV series Moonlight.
Synopsis[]
After a convicted criminal is executed, it seems that he is alive and stalking his victim who got away, so Beth Turner takes Audrey to Mick St. John for help.
Plot[]
Beth helps a girl named Audrey Pell who witnessed cult leader Donovan Shepherd murder 6 people, two of which were her parents. She sits next to Audrey at Shepherd’s execution by lethal injection to give her support. He dies at 12:04am (the title of the episode). Beth relates to Audrey as she recalls her own survivor’s stress following her kidnapping. The police never caught the woman who took Beth.
Beth invites Audrey back to her apartment to give her company overnight. Later that evening, Audrey gets a threatening phone call from Shepherd and catches a glimpse of him through Beth's apartment's window. Mick checks the prison morgue but finds the DA’s body there, not Shepherd’s. The DA had helped put Shepherd away. Through video footage, Mick finds out that Shepherd was turned into a vampire by his priest just before the supposed execution.
Mick gets Beth and Audrey to stay at his place for the night, while he looks for Shepherd. When he finds Shepherd, they fight and he throws Mick off the balcony, with Mick dropping his phone. Shepherd sees his phone and finds out where Mick lives. While looking around Mick's unit, Beth spots his filing cabinet and her curiosity leads her to find a folder with her name on it. She finds several pictures of herself at various ages in the folder. She then realises that Mick was the one who rescued her as a little girl when she had been kidnapped.
Meanwhile, Shepherd breaks into Mick’s apartment and Beth tries to stake him but is thrown around brutally and overpowered. He is about to bite Beth but Mick crash tackles him and they have a furious fight. Mick tells Beth and Audrey to run. While Mick is temporarily disabled, Shepherd tries to get to Beth and Audrey in the lift but a recovered Mick decapitates him with a short sword.
Later, she finds Mick on the top of his building. Beth tells him she knows who saved her as a child and calls him her guardian angel. Mick comments how it looks – that first he murders his wife and then he stalks her! She replies that she had aways felt safe growing up and now she knew why. With the sun rising, Mick comments that it could never work but she disagrees and puts her hand up to his to help shade his face. She kisses him but then Mick turns and walks away.
